Welcome to the Research School of Studies in Cultural History at Stockholm University.
Between 2010 and 2014, the Research School will provide research programmes for PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities. 19 PhD students are connected to the Research School and the departments within the Faculty of Humanities. The fields of study covered by FoKult include historical fields, cultural fields and culture-historical specialisations in other humanities-related fields.
FoKult’s own PhD students are partly connected to one of the faculty’s departments and partly to the Research School. From different disciplinary perspectives, the PhD students deal with questions concerning the relationship between the past and the present, as well as with questions concerning the more or less distant past. All this research is conducted in order to find new ways to make the past relevant in our changeable times.
The Research School constitutes a common ground where the PhD students can meet and discuss each other’s research during seminars, courses and trips. The Research School’s steering committee and invited researchers also contribute by means of lectures, seminars and supervision. Some of the FoKult seminars and courses will also be open to all PhD students at the Faculty of Humanities.
